Success Starts With Soil

It grows in arching clumps, reaching 8-12” tall and wide, with narrow, dark green, grass-like leaves. Native to Japan and Korea, it thrives in woodland settings. Small, bell-shaped, white to lilac flowers bloom in summer on short stalks, followed by pea-sized, blue-black berries, often hidden in the foliage. Resembling Liriope but with finer leaves, mondo grass is a low-maintenance ground cover, ideal for shady borders, rock gardens, path edges, or as a no-mow turf alternative.

Growing Tips for Ophiopogon japonicus

Grow in rich, moist, well-drained soil with part to full shade. Prefers consistent moisture and protection in colder zones. Spreads slowly by rhizomes. Evergreen in mild winters.
