A narrow, columnar evergreen conifer with a graceful, steeple-shaped crown, typically reaching 30–50 feet tall. It features soft blue-green foliage with scale-like mature leaves and needle-like juvenile growth. Yellow pollen cones appear at the tips of the stems, while seed cones emerge purple before maturing to brown. As the tree ages, its bark develops an attractive reddish-brown color.
