Firespire Musclewood, a Johnson’s Nursery introduction, is a narrow, upright form of the American Hornbeam known for its outstanding orange-red fall color and muscular, smooth gray bark. This tree, similar in size and form to Cornus mas ‘Golden Glory,’ features forest green deciduous foliage and tan hop-like fruit clusters from early fall to late winter. It's a great choice for screening, adaptable to sun and shade, and suitable for small areas. Requiring minimal maintenance, Firespire is deer-resistant and can be used as an accent, shade tree, or in naturalizing and woodland gardens.
